Hello friends...I found an unusual nickel. It appears cutoff slightly around the entire circumference. The edge also is thinner than a standard nickel as well as smaller in size overall. I looked up nickels struck on dime planchets but that doesn't look like my nickel. Too much of the design is intact. It is just the top of all the lettering and bottom of the bust that appears to be slightly missing. Despite the smaller edge, it has a distinct feel to it. Any suggestions guys? And thanks so much for your time today! By the way in first photo, the coin in question is to the left of comparison coin.

Super! Thanks guys. Never would have thought of that. Great link John. It totally explains the explanation of the surface too. I am learning so much on this site. If only it were this easy to get help ID'ing my Native American artifacts.
