I don't usually collect error coins but I had to have this one. I hope it will arrive during next week.

Back from grading. Coin was year 1916 instead of 1908.

Silver double strucks in silver, of any country are valuable, and well worth adding to any collection.

How did they decide on 1916 ?

When modern coins are made in their thousands of millions, individual coins are not checked very often.

Back in 1908-16 all obvious errors were removed, and thus not enter circulation.
Perhaps this did not happen as well during the years of the First World War.

When I inspected more closely last number of date that is slightly showing is indeed number 6. With that information there is only 3 possible dates. 1866, 1876 and 1916.

Reverse and obverse designs for these dates are slightly different. So I think NGC eliminated years 1866 and 1876 with that information. Although it would have been nice to own 1876 50 pennia MS65 key date (estimated mintage 600) and rare error.

Maybe my coin went to pockets of mint employee or it slipped through inspection. If coins could talk...
