Hello all, I was on ebay and came across some North Korean gold coins. The seller described the coin as "Korean", and did not specify that it was from North Korea in the item title. However, the pictures showed the coin in a PCGS holder that read "North Korea" along with other descriptions of the coin. It was a commemorative gold coin. So my question is,

1. Do TPGs accept and grade coins from North Korea?

2. Are you allowed to sell North Korean coins on ebay?

I've always thought that the answers were no for both questions, but this coin and seller seems to prove otherwise. Please let me know. Thanks.

I always thought you couldn't list coins from Cuba, Sudan, Syria, Iran, or DPRK...

Yes.

No.

ebay just bans everything from embargo countries to cover themselves instead of trying to program something to allow what should be allowed. I get why they do but it is annoying

This coin clearly shows where the revenue from the sale of these coins goes.

I've seen a seller who sells coins from Cuba, North Korea, and Iran along with a lot of other foreign coins but he lists them as "World One" coins.

ebay seems to have numerous openly-listed coins from Iran, Syria, and Sudan for sale from US sellers.
Rest in Peace

Now here is something to think about. If you can not sell North Korean coins on ebay but you can sell coins from China, what if China makes the coins for North Korea?

Doesn't matter, you can't sell Cuban coins that were made at the Philadelphia mint long before there was any embargo.
