Licinius Junior (II) was only 5 years old when this coin was struck. He had been made a co-Caesar in the East alongside Crispus (17 years old) and, in the West, Constantine II (5 months old) two years prior in 317. He managed to reach the ripe old age of 10 before both he and Crispus were executed by his uncle (Constantine I) - not long after his father (Licinius I) and Licinius's co-Emperor Martinian had also been executed - as punishment for Licinius' failed military campaigns (i.e. attempting to dethrone Constantine.) There are quite a few issues of Licinius II which are scarce to rare depending on the mint and type. This coin was struck in Aquileia and is a scarcer type (R4.) The reverse legend is shared with other coins of Crispus and Constantine II: CAESARVM NOSTRORVM (Our Caesars.) We know it is from around 320 because of the reverse legend VOT V (Vows for the 5th anniversary of rule.) I turned up the juice and shot it with the 55mm at 1/3 (long exposure) to draw out the details.
