Thank you, Hondo. He must be a little busy today but I'm sure he will comment eventually.

MAN!...All of you guys are always posting the most interesting, beautiful, desirable coins, & I almost hate to show this one ... Almost...

...So, anyone want to see another really ugly coin?

...I just bought this on ebay (1718 1 Reale Cob Spanish Colonial Silver Old Coin MINT ERROR DOUBLE DIE Potosi) ...

...The seller incorrectly identified this cob as doubled, but that's not the case here: ... What makes this cob unique is that obverse & reverse features appear on both sides (obv & rev) of this coin. It's almost as the coin was (poorly) struck once, falling off of the die, picked up, flipped over & struck again (see below illustration as to how cobs were hand struck)

...this is the first of this occurrence that I've seen ... double striking was a common occurrence in cob production, adding mild interest, but not a lot of value (if any...it can detract...)...but this is "flipped-over & struck again" striking, not such a common thing ...
...also, the medal alignment is North/North, another scarce occurrence ...

...cob collectors will enjoy this one, & the rest of you can appreciate it's "rugged beauty ... lol ...

.....................................1718 Potosi 1 real..........................

This is one bad photo gamble that worked out well.

I love original Liberty Seated coinage that hasn't been messed with, and buy it when I see it as long as it's affordable!

1843 Liberty Seated dime

I'd wanted a British Trade dollar for a while. I picked up this 1908-B to compliment my Edward VII UK type set. The weak luster doesn't come across in the images.

That is a fantastic cob, mrwiskers! I'm definitely in the "CAS" - Cob Appreciation Society!
Nice selection of coins, Dearborn!
Excellent dime, paralyse! They say "you win some, you lose some", and you certainly won this time.
That's a wonderful Trade dollar, bd251! That's a coin on my list.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
