Can anyone explain the large gap of 18 years between minting the coins? I'm not sure why. The same was done with Martinique - coins were issued in 1897 and then not again until 1922. Mintages were lower than Guadeloupe and are also not inexpensive. The long gap is probably why higher grades are hard to find - the coins were used by necessity. Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
