The 20'th century started off in Europe as a time of hope yet the Political reality of tribal kingdoms, Empire, Kings, Queens, and competing economics interests would spark a massive 1'sr World War that would redraw the map and almost guarantee and even more gruesome future war for the next generation.



The pre-war and post war story told in the currency's of the time.




Meanwhile the story of the rise of Fascism in both Germany, Italy, and Spain, would be written because of the failure of the economy's and any hope of a Democratic Europe would be crushed by the jackboots of its conquerors.





Meanwhile in the East, in Japan and Russia, a different form of oppression manifestedin the form of the enslavement of a nation family to the cult of the Emperor and in Russia the false liberation of the working class under Communism.



A hated symbol would come to be forever associated with the worst genocide in modern times as Adolf Hitler began his war against the Jews. Stripping them of wealth,status, citizenship,freedom, and even life. We remember this crime and the victims, which persists even to this day, by never forgetting the symbols that represented it.



Nor do we forget the brutal occupations of the nations struck down by the brutal regimes and the sacrifices made to make them account for their crimes.



A story being told in the currencys and coinage of the time, "still unfinished"

Thanks guys. I own bullion. Silver in particular I find stunning and of course theres gold as far as money retention really lies. I find bullion beautiful and often collectable too but of course not like numismatics. Still, I never met PMs that weren't beautiful.

But I "buy" PM for wealth protection and to justify my spending for numismatic collectables which is where my heart really lies. I see I'm among good company here too in this thread. A 10oz bar of silver is, of course, beautiful, but a 140 yo MSD really makes my heart race regardless of value.

And of course my forte is History its ownself. The early 20'th century in particular.

Anyhoo I too have been spending like a drunken sailor and think Ive about blown my bank for the summer. You guys keep em coming tho, this is a terrific thread. Moniker thats a fabulous coin. What a terrific strike! Its so nice to see the foreign coinage in this thread.
