I really like the look of these coins. The Australian $2 armistice and New Zealand 50 cent armistice go well with my Canadian armistice toonies.

That 3 Kreuzer looks to have PVC residue, acetone might help it. Lovely coin.

As to me, I enjoy Victorian Gothic Florins and pick them up when I see them if they're in decent shape and not overpriced, so this one was a natural.

This was a surprising pickup today in a local antiques market. A guy there has had a stall for at least 30 years with a couple of cabinets of coins. Mostly they are heavily circulated common-date Victorian and later British silver, but occasionally he gets something more unusual. This French 1824A Louis XIV half-franc was a case in point. It cost me £8. The mintage is 613,140. These scans don't do it justice: it has considerable traces of lustre in the fields and around the lettering. The only thing that spoils it is the 'hit' on poor Louis XVIII's nose!
