3rd purchase from MA Shops / Sebastian Sänn, dealer (this guy has some nice selections) ... the hole (made in the day, square nail) doesn't bother me much, as the strike is strong & the details are well centered ... early Potosi mint ...  |

thanks, guys...yup. Moniker, hammered coins have a particular appeal, especially Spanish cobs, as they are each unique, due to the process in which they were made (coin #3, the 1/2 real, is a hammered coin, but technically, not a cob. "Cob" production was different, with little care to getting the details onto the coin surface, & replaced the hammering method sometime in the later 1500's, ending in Potosi in 1773) ... thanks for the comments, all ...
