After a bit of a slow period, I'm back to upgrading some of my classic commemoratives in my complete set. As I've mentioned before, my primary objective is to upgrade any example which is of a lower grade than MS65; now I'm down to only 5 remaining to complete that goal. The first addition was the toughest one I had remaining, a Lafayette dollar. The one in my collection I'd purchased at the Houston Money Show in 2014 and was a NGC MS61. It's an attractive coin, but as expected for the grade there is a lot of chatter in the fields. The upgrade is a PCGS MS65 example I'm quite happy with. It has a light gunmetal gray toning all over, with a couple areas of slightly darker toning on the obverse. This example, as well as my older one, are the DuVall 2-C die pair. The second is a 1935-S Boone, PCGS MS67. It upgrades a PCGS MS64 example I've owned since 2015. PCGS pop is 45/8+ with 2 higher. I found this a particularly attractive example with faint peripheral toning and great luster. And finally, I have a 1936-D Rhode Island, NGC MS67. It upgrades an NGC MS66 example; I normally don't upgrade a single point like that, but MS66 examples of these are very common. While NGC has graded over 300 at MS66, the pop for MS67 is 72 with only 6 higher. Though the Rhode Island design is one of my least favorite of the series, I found this example quite attractive with the peripheral toning on the obverse.

That is a very attractive design on the St. Helena coin, GLB. I don't actively collect foreign coins or bullion issues, but seeing all the beauties you share is making me rethink that a bit...
