Interesting pair, Hondo. What made you purchase these two coins?

NumisEd, I've always been attracted to international coins. I have far more of them - especially France and Mexico - than US coins. The Friesland 2 Stuivers was an impulse buy because I liked the rampant lion.

I really like the design of that D-Day coin, where did you get it from?

The coins were produced at The Royal Mint in South Wales. I ordered
my coins from SD Bullion here in the US.

I may have to get one of these, I collect anything Military or WWII oriented..

Yes, Dearborn, you should have one in your WWII collection. The soldiers are British based on their helmets and rifles (and the coin was produced in the UK). The mintage is 100,000.

Now yours is a 2 pound coin (quid not weight) there is also a 1 pound silver coin that goes with this with a different design...

That is the Alderney 1 oz coin based on one of the Channel Islands near Normandie. The islands were occupied by Germany for most of the war.
