Just found this going through my old collection. I think its either a off struck or an extra rim.

did V nickels ever have denticles that long in the first place? That is unusual for sure, I'd assume PMD but no idea.

Can you delamination theory explain how it got the coin out of round?

Coin has been mashed and the thinner side wore less than the thicker one protecting the denticals more. Denticals are longer from being stretched as the coin expanded out of round.
