1969 Non Magnetic Quarter 4.9/5.0 Grams, Silver? Supposed To Be Magnetic?

Interesting that it's non-magnetic though...it should be, as it's 99.9% nickel. Silver quarter planchets from the 1960's were heavier (5.83 g), so it couldn't have been struck on any of them. I have a couple of non-magnetic quarters from the 70's. Unlike yours they are both seriously underweight and dull looking. However, doesn't appear to be any missing design from being struck on a smaller planchet and U.S. nickel planchets shouldn't be hanging around at the mint. Report this Post to the Staff

Secondly, what kind of magnet are you testing this with? Sometimes, fridge magnets are pretty darn weak...
