Somewhere along many stops today I received this coin in change. I didn't look at my change till I came home but this stuck out right away. I'm pretty sure its a proof and just wanted to confirm.

Looks like a proof to me. The ding around 6k bothers me a bit. You really should crop photos before posting. Nice find.

I have it cropped to the very edges of the coin. I'm unable to explain why it's so extended. My apologies.

Incredible that a proof coin was circulating in change at a store.

I have found a few "impaired proofs" roll searching aver the years. You don't find many but you could start an impaired proof collection.

I'm sorry to dredge this topic up again but rather than simply deleting I have to come clean and state that I made an error on how this coin was acquired. I had thought I received this in change from a handful of stores I went to on October 19th the day of my original post.

However it was confirmed to my surprise that I actually received it in change the day before from the coin store I visited. I totally forgot I went there and purchased something cash. This makes the find far less rare or surprising since it was done intentionally. As a matter fact he gave me another one today when I was there.

Anyway I thought I should clear this up and apologize. It was an honest mistake.

Here's the one I got today BTW.

No need to apologize, it was an honest mistake and still a nice thing to find in change.

Glad to see your "mistake" was rewarded with a second proof.
