John1, though I have not used this stand I would have to say that because of its length you would not be able to take full pictures of anything larger than a U.S. quarter. Although not knowing what microscope you are using I could be wrong. I have three different microscopes and until I purchased a 14" brass tube I had to stack books in order to get the microscope high enough to take pics of half dollars and large dollars.

Celestron with stock riser tube.

Celestron with 14" brass riser tube purchased from my local hardware store. I hope this helps.

I just ordered one this morning. Estimated delivery is 10/29. I'm not really looking to use it with my microscope however, I will be using it for a lighting experiment.

Right, you just need to pick it up from the coin and give a light source!

I have two scopes,a Celestron 44302 and an AmScope UTP200x003MP.Not worried about fitting a whole coin because I have no problem stacking books to fit image. I can get a full Ike pic that way. The reason I am shopping for a replacement stand is because the one that came with the AmScope is plastic that slides on to an aluminum rod. The plastic is flimsy and loose. The one on the Celestron is metal, but really just a joke.
Mine is like this Celestron https://www.ebay.com/itm/Celestron-...100011.m1850

Just came in. My Celestron does not fit in the opening . I had to put the bottom of the scope into the stand, and that way the scope won't go down enough for a close up pic. I will try and figure something else out. I will try my other scope later.

The new stand is no easier then the old ones. I had to stack books to get a close up shot. The new stand is more sturdy but I feel like I am out $20

I have same thing but by lighthouse inherent problem with these they don't right up close and personal. you can remedy this by cutting of that awful plastic cover on the end. best thing I ever did

Do you mean the end on the scope? The clear plastic on the end of the scope just pops off on my Celestron 44302.

Those are some crazy close pictures. I am trying most times to zoom out enough to fit the whole coin.
Never tried to zoom in. Well next time.
