Hi I'm a newbie and I'm just wondering if anyone can help me out with an 1884 shilling , passed down to me, which appears to be an error coin as the obverse is upside down. Is the coin a fake , an error or is the coin meant to look like this ? I may be completely wrong but I would appreciate if anyone could help me out with this . Thanks.

Hi Macca51 and to the Forum!

Your coin is perfectly normal - all Victorian Young Head silver coins were struck with the obverse upside-down in relation to the reverse.
