The Australia on the Map $1, 1oz silver coin finally arrived today...a few weeks after the expected release and availability date. This coin is impressive and is particularly set off by the out box.

Interestingly the Royal Dutch Mint will be marking this event? as well. From their web site...http://en.knm.nl
quote:
In 2006, two new Dutch commemorative coins will be issued. Themes of these coins will be 400 years Netherlands-Australia, and the 400th birthday of the famous Dutch painter Rembrandt.

No indication of when it will come out. It could make an intersting pair of coins.

This was a strange one. The RAM asked dealers for expressions of interest in a possible 750 coin sets. I suppose if it was over subscribed it would be a luck dip. It will not available to the general public through the RAM. No issue price was set either.

The Australia Five Euro Coin is up on the Royal Dutch Mint website.
Comes in three guises? Circulating, silver proof and gold proof. I can't see an indication of price yet.
They also mention the RAM issue a silver $5 coin. I can't see this on the RAM website, am I missing something? The $1 coin is Perth Mint right?
I wonder if there are Dutch collecters interested in Aust. coins?

Thanks rg, the link seemed to send me to the same front page? I had a look in the Catalogue and found the prices: silver proof 28E and gold proof 155E and a Combination Australian - Dutch set at 80E (pic included below). The catalogue is only available in Dutch and unfortunately I can't read Dutch. No mention of the circulation Euro except on the website they say that you can get it from post offices in Holland.

So Bigfella are you saying that this Aussie $5 might not be available through the RAM? Or just that they haven't said anything yet. I notice in another thread you say "$5 coins also have varying levels of success"

All unc. silver euro coins released in the Netherlands at the banks and post offices are at FACE value. The unc $5. will be just that $5 Euro! Just figure the conversion rates and you have your price. I will check with my contacts in the Netherlands to see if I can come up with extra coins when they are released as it should be no problem and then I could ship to one Aussie collector (volunteer) and he/she could distribute to the other Aussies. Will check in to this soon.
