Just trying to figure out how many people have supplies form this company and if they were happy with what they received? Since they are about 30 minutes from me I am considering stopping in to have a look around but dont want to waste time if anyone has had bad experiences.

thanks
malissa

They make all the coin albums and 2x2's and things like that. Their stuff LOOKS very nice. Maybe they only are known in canada?

Their little blue folders can be found at most dealers, but I've been warned that they contain PVC and as such aren't good for your coins. Collector's Supply House makes similar albums to Unitrade, and I use their Gardmaster series, as I like them better.

They also ship for free provided your order is over a rather small amount. (I think it was $25, but I'm not sure, although I am due to send them another order.)

ok what exactly does PVC stand for? This company say their clear envelopes and pages and books are made from polyurethane. Is that pvc? If not is it safe for coins. I was assuming that now that everyone knows pvc is no good for coins that all the companies would change their products.

Malissa,

PVC = Polyvinyl Chloride. Polyurethane is not the same compound. When PVC comes in contact with metal, it starts a nasty chemical reaction that permanently damages the coin's surface. If found early, this damage can be minimized with a thorough acetone bath.

ok, thank you. I might just go and at least have a look around (if they are open to the public) can't hurt to just look.

well, I did contact them and they ARE open to the public! Not only that but dealers have to pay more, collectors pay 20% off. I'm liking the sound of this already.

on that note..... send a pm to me if there happens to be a certain canadian folder or album that you might need. I think I'm allowed to offer that on the forum right? If not, sorry moderators.

Malissa,

PVC containing coin products survive even with the known effects because they are less expensive to manufacture, and many do not like the stiff non-pvc flips and products. Many people or shops who plan to sell the coin in a short period of time use them because no damage will show in the short time period, and the purchaser can easily bend the flip to see the edge. Non PVC flips often crack when someone does this rather strongly.
