I know absolutely nothing about coins. I recently moved into my parents house and found these coins in the top of my mom's closet. I don't know anything about them. I was thinking I would give them to my son when he gets older...I'm assuming they were my grandfather's. But I'd like to know what exactly I'm giving him. I doubt they are worth much because my mom left everything she had of value in her will, but are they particularly special? Here is what is on the certificates: YF-22 Rollout Advanced Tactical Fighter One Troy Ounce .999 Fine Silver Minted for Lockheed September 1990. The other one says: 25th Anniversary SR-71 Once Troy Ounce .999 Fine Silver Minted exclusively for Lockheed December, 1989.

Cool silver commemorative rounds and not very many presently for sale. I did find one SR-&! Blackbird coin (just in capsule) with an asking price of $65 but no takers. I found a couple of YF-22's weirdly enough on the ebay Ireland site listed for a tad more.

Probably would be of decent interest to flyboy collectors out there

Thanks for the info. I thought about selling since it's almost Christmas but had a feeling I would struggle to find a buyer. I think I will hold on to them.

Cool looking and worth silver scrap price at a minimum. Although I would keep them or give to your son as you mentioned especially if he is into planes at all.

Silver melt is about what you would get if you had to sell. Hard to get retail prices for items like this.
