1974 P Quarter Identification Help

Came across this 1974 quarter the mint mark is in front of the nose and edges are smudged or something the bottom of the 9 in 1974 is still readable and eagle wing.

i dont believe that is the mintmark you are seeing in front of GW's nose.
the US mint didnt put the mintmark in that location - it is located behind his head near the hair.

what you are seeing is a whole LOT of post mint damage!
