Not sure about this penny grandfather had it wrapped up and I can see a 3 maybe beside the N .does anyone know anything about this penny thank you all for the help

I would check the weight on it to see if it weighs roughly 3.11 grams or roughly 2.5 grams. If I weighs 3.11 then it was made of the 95% copper planchet. Which means they used the wrong planchet.

There isn't a 3 anywhere. You mind is seeing stuff that isn't actually there. That's called Pareidolia.
