I don't believe Verdi-Care will do anything to all those green corrosion spots . But the coin might look somewhat better then without it .

It should help, but there will likely be a different sort of coloring afterward in the green areas - ie, the coin won't magically return to an even color.

I think Verdi Care will help. It should remove that green, but what is underneath will depend on how deep that green ate into the surface.

Here is an example from my testing...

Notice on my cent how the damage was too much on the obverse, the verdigris was just too much.

However, the reverse turned out really nice.

I think verdigris on your cent is similar to the reverse of mine. It is nowhere near the damage that obverse on mine had.

I've been using verdi-care on some Indian Head cents that I've been digging while metal detecting. Now the ones that aren't corroded usually have a green patina to them. It doesn't remove the green patina or the corrosion, but seem to clean up the surface of the coin. Some of the IHP that I use it on eventually get some of the original brown color brought back out, although some of the green stays on it, so it gives it a marble kind of look.

My cent took three days of soaking. I put in a small dish with just enough Verdi Care to cover the surface. I replaced with fresh each day. On the second day I was happy with the reverse, but saw the obverse was probably a lost cause. It took some work with a toothpick and the third day to get that spot to where it is.

You should soak the coin in acetone before messing around with verdi-care. With your coin I'd let it soak overnight, rinse it, and let it dry, then try soaking in verdi-care a good 24 hours per side. Using a soft cloth dab the verdi-care off the coin and let it dry for another day before handling it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it don't. All depends on the severeness of the verdigris.

Like Coinfrog said, it doesn't magically restore a coin and correct damage. Its primary purpose is to neutralize the corrosion process so that the verdigris doesn't get worse. It also provides a protective barrier to prevent any future corrosion.

I think it will help your coin, but I would do what Mark said and soak it in acetone first.

There are two types of instructions for using Verdi-care, One is for spot treatment and the other is for circulated coins such as your Large Cent. Since your coin is in rough shape did you try this method? Rubbing a coin is certainly scary and not usually recommended but if the coin is a lost cause it could be worth a try.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE AS A DEBRIS REMOVER (RECOMMENDED METHOD FOR CIRCULATED COINS):

1)Place a small, circular amount of product just larger than the size of the coin on a coin-safe, non-abrasive, soft cloth (a high quality micro fiber towel such as the VERDITOWEL™ works well). Grasp the coin by the rim and rotate the coin in a clockwise and counter-clockwise twisting motion against the soaked surface until the desired results are obtained and the entire coin surface is covered in product. Make sure the coin ONLY contacts the cloth where product has been applied to avoid dry rubbing!
