I think I'm getting better at grading these.

So this one may be a semi-PL. (I wish I actually had a PL that I could compare it to). I'm interested to hear how people think that the uneven toning will effect the grade. I actually like the colors, but wish it were more consistent.

I think this could be a MS65, but that mark in the obverse field behind the cap may be disqualifying.

ms64. like you said, the mark behind the cap and the one under the L in PLURIBUS keep it from gem. nice clean cheek. toning is not that attractive, but that will affect the eye appeal and price more than the technical grade.

for PL the only way to really determine is to place the coin on newsprint when taking the photo so that the reflection of the newsprint shows in the coin. in this case, it does not appear to be PL but if you care to retake the photo we will take a look at it. the lighting can also be a contributing factor in the way the surface is washed out

High end MS-64. Looks like some tone spots from holes in the 2x2 window.

So basically, if I can read the newsprint in the reflection then likely PL, otherwise not PL?

So, I decided to try reading the newsprint through the reflection. I could just barely read it in the fields. However, I compared this to a couple of other PCGS slabbed coins, one of which appears more PL than this one. That one is not graded PL, so I'm comfortable concluding that this is not either.

I think the blotchy toning holds the eye appeal back, so I'll say 64.

MS-64. I am not a fan of the spotty pattern of the toning.
