Basically there are 8 different types of 1982 cent coins. There are the ones minted from either Denver or Philadelphia, then there are the zinc and copper cents. The zinc generally weigh around 2.5 grams while the copper weigh around 3.1, then there are the small and large dates. As the name goes, the small date coin has a smaller, thinner printed letters. The large date has bold and thick lettering. One of the giveaways for the small and large dates is that the small date 2, in 1982, is a curved 2, while the large date 2 is regular and is more of a line and is sharp. The 1982 Denver Small Date Cent was never meant to exist, so that's why its extremely rare.

Hope this helps!
