Lars....
The 50 cents in the Baby set and the Mint set are the same both are UNC's, to own a 12 sided 50 cents in proof condition, one is only available through the purchase of the Baby proof set.
Looking from a different perspective at the "different" 50 cents, this is my analysis:
1. 12 sided 50 cents in UNC and strucked in Cupro-nickel ...available from the Mint set and the Baby set.
2. 12 sided 50 cents in proof condition and strucked in Cu-Ni only available from the Baby proof set.
3. Round 80% silver 50 cents, only available from the Mint Proof set.
4. 12 sided 50 cents (Cu-Ni)specimen strike in true GEM grade...only available from the Wedding set.
5. Either round or 12 sided 50 cents in 99.9 % silver...only available from the FSPS.
For the poor decimal 50 cents collector, he/she will to make purchases of five different sets to be able to say they have all the different 50 cent pieces. We have both seen the lengths and expense what some collectors will go to just to obtain basically the same coin but the packaging is different.
Why? the only logical conclusion I can arrive at is a greedy grab for our hard earned dollars by the RAM.
BTW Lars, you are also a seller...will you be making any offers to the members here like what you have offered in the Aussie Forums
