This may sound stupid..........ops did I say that or just think it?

Anyway I don't understand why the mint would put a different 50C coin in the mint set to that of the baby set?

Did I miss something?

Lars....

The 50 cents in the Baby set and the Mint set are the same both are UNC's, to own a 12 sided 50 cents in proof condition, one is only available through the purchase of the Baby proof set.

Looking from a different perspective at the "different" 50 cents, this is my analysis:

1. 12 sided 50 cents in UNC and strucked in Cupro-nickel ...available from the Mint set and the Baby set.

2. 12 sided 50 cents in proof condition and strucked in Cu-Ni only available from the Baby proof set.

3. Round 80% silver 50 cents, only available from the Mint Proof set.

4. 12 sided 50 cents (Cu-Ni)specimen strike in true GEM grade...only available from the Wedding set.

5. Either round or 12 sided 50 cents in 99.9 % silver...only available from the FSPS.

For the poor decimal 50 cents collector, he/she will to make purchases of five different sets to be able to say they have all the different 50 cent pieces. We have both seen the lengths and expense what some collectors will go to just to obtain basically the same coin but the packaging is different.

Why? the only logical conclusion I can arrive at is a greedy grab for our hard earned dollars by the RAM.

BTW Lars, you are also a seller...will you be making any offers to the members here like what you have offered in the Aussie Forums [:p]

Lim I meant to say why the difference between the two proof sets. It doesn't make sense for only one set to have the round 50C.

Regarding your BTW, I am no longer a dealer nor a full-time seller. I have come to love collecting again to much. I am reducing my collection on ebay so that I can buy some other coins that I am interest me.

The offer I made to the aussie forum was something I did as a favour to fellow collectors.

I am more then happy to extend that offer to this forum aswell as long as I am not stepping on anyones toes eg: Bigfella.

I will put up the offer and if Bigfella can beat it then thats even better. I only really have the one offer. The offer requires everyone to come together and order in one bulk hit. 10% of your purchase if the bulk order is below $2000 and 15% off your purchase if the order is over $2000.

As I was never a big time dealer in the first place I was never fully equipped to deal with OS customers. However I am happy for the sake of this forum to try and work something out.

I am interested in buying some stuff of the ram and my order will come to about $200, I will hold off for a week or so just in case this is something this forum is interested in.

Hi Lars......found that auction a bit too late.Anyway, I am not experienced enough to form an opinion. Perhaps someone who knows more about predecimal errors & varieties might be able to do so.

Cheers....Lim

Lim you posted the reply in the wrong thread.

I know my above offer is limited but there are some good savings to be had. If you are after the odd occasional purchase from the RAM it is best to go to a dealer or direct to the mint.

I must say with all the differences amongst the sets, it makes them more interesting.

I know I am slow on this point, but I just realised that the 2006 baby mint set does not have the 1 and 2 cent pieces.

Even more interesting!!!
