Some of you might have dealt with me a few decades back. I started collecting in 1957 and was a dealer of Canada and British Commonwealth in the 1980s - Kolbeck Rare Coins. Pretty much sold all my collection when I became editor of Krause's World Coin News in the late 80s.
Eventually got out of the magazine business and got to do what I really liked - fishing. I was a guide on the Wisconsin River for ten years. Swore I would never collect anything again. But then of my clients took me to an antique tackle show and I was hooked again. Eventually became a dealer in vintage fishing tackle and am the biggest seller of it on
ebay (Capt.John) where I have sold about 75,000 auctions of mostly old lures.
Was surfing one day and saw a mint state Canada 1914 $5 gold coin for sale! This was one coin that eluded me when I was working on a mint state Canada type set. Then I discovered they found a whole bunch of them in a vault. Got me interested again in coins so here I am. Looking for Unc. Newfoundland & Canada type coins.
