If you are talking about the head area where you see the zinc and plating smeared that is from circulation damage.

I'm not seeing a clash, I'm seeing circulation damage. Most clashes around the area of the head are for the most part around the neck area.

Crazy thing about circulation damage, it makes things look like something they are not. It's called Pareidolia.

I don't see an A. If I look long enough, maybe it could happen. As far as a die clash, remember that the area of Lincoln's head you are highlighting is recessed on the die, so it is the least likely to be affected by a clash.

I wasn't really thinking the minting process through correctly it you are right it looks like it got bounced around and restruck a couple times by the reverse die I don't know what you call that but PSD is correct. Thanks again for your replies.

It's a lot to learn and there are really no shortcuts. Understanding errors and diagnosing non-errors (damage) requires a knowledge of the minting process and what is and what isn't possible during that. It may require searching this forum, but a lot of information about the minting process can be found here in many topics.
