According to the narrative from the MS66 CAC example sold at Heritage Auctions this is a very rare variety:

1877-S-Seated-50c---Verific.-Of-Poss.-Closed-Bud,-'Very-Small'-S-Variety

This is a Type 2 reverse and it is hard to see but could possible be a WB-104, WB-22 with a rarity of R3. The type 2 reverse is identified by the lower bud being closed and by thin olive stem.
