Hi, so I have two, either gold or brass, coins that have no minting, blank sides, and no indication as of where it was made, other than it is printed in English.

The two coins have a lion rampant on the front, and on top the two coins say "HALF PENNY". On the bottom there is a date that says "1840", but that is all. The penny is rather very lightweight, and the edges are plain, or smooth.

I have done countless hours of searching for anything close to this coin, and it is leading me to believe that this is not a coin, rather is some kind of token or nothing at all. But the peculiar 1840 and the half penny printing makes me feel that this was used for something, or some kind of currency. Any help would be wonderful, as I really want this to get answered so I don't half to keep thinking about these coins.

I am currently trying to upload my images to this page.

Hey everybody,

So I am still doing research to find anything about these coins, but everywhere I go it always leads to a dead end. Is there any kind of website or some kind of place I can look to find anything like this at all?

Oh, and if you're wondering as to where I found these, my brother was at our local park where he found a small coin purse filled with coins from different countries, along with these two strange coins.

Where each one is from:
100 pesos (1984) - Republica De Chile
10 centavos (1971) - Republica Argentina
50 Ore Norec (2010)- Norway
and the two unidentified coins.

Thank you for your understanding.

These items are far too "modern-looking" to have actually been made in 1840; it's safe to assume the dates are "fictitious" and they were made much later, 1950s at the earliest. They are not coins, but exactly what they are is hard to say. I would tend to assume such pieces were made as toy coins, or "play money".
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Thank you for responding. My mother was thinking that it was some kind of play money as well, but I couldn't be so sure.

Thank you again.
