to CCF! Can we get closeups of the L in LIBERTY and the part of Lincoln's head that appears to be "missing"? From the pictures provided it looks like the L is normal and the head may have been over polished or Struck Through Grease. Really not too sure about Lincoln's head. It's tough to tell from the picture. Again, some closeups would be very helpful. Happy hunting! -CH27

to the Forum. If I were to speculate on the head, it looks like a stain mark, but definitely need a better focused image.

to CCF. Need better pics. As of now, the L looks normal for the year and the head looks like a corrosion spot.Your coin is not MS,so you can not compare it to one. John1

Ok not refering to the stain. I know this is a circulated coin. MS+ coins are good for comparison. It will show you what a coin should look like. I'm refering to the detail in the head itself. Notice the ear and hair. Also the liberty starts on the edge of the coin, look at my other pictures. It is not normal for liberty to start on the rim. there should be a space. On all years of Lincoln memorial coins I have not seen one that looks like this.

Not seeing a MAD and you can not compare a 1961 to a 1982,there was a design change. John1

Quote: I'm refering to the detail in the head itself. Notice the ear and hair All look normal, every coin will look different due to the manner in which they circulate and reflect the wear and tear on them. Quote: Also the liberty starts on the edge of the coi Normal for the dies used then. It's a spender, let it go.

The L is almost standing up. Not a spender I am going to do some more research. Thats the fun of coin collecting. Thank you all for your opinion though and happy hunting to all of you!
