I found some 1970 s pennies in an original bankwrapped roll. Most of them seem to be doubled. Some have seperation lines and some are thick letters. I think there would be a seperation line but they have blended together or something. is that possible?

also I found this.....

This is one of the rare and valuable 1970 S Doubled Die Obverse DDO varieties of the Lincoln Memorial cent. This coin is best identified by the doubling of the letters "In God We Trust" along the top of the coin and the doubling of the word "Liberty" on the left side. In addition: The 1970 date and S mint mark are also doubled on this penny as well as depicted in the example image above. However the doubling is not always as prominent since there are multiple varieties of this particular doubled die. Source of example image is courtesy of Heritage Auctions.

where it says "However the doubling is not always as prominent since there are multiple varieties of this particular doubled die." does this mean that the 1970 S DDO -001 has different varieties of that variety? maybe some with seperation lines and some without?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is not 001,and I see no DDO. Check CC's site and the others and see if you can make a match.

Just a normal coin. There's no Doubled Die.

Sorry, your coin is not the big one. It is not DDO-001.

They either meant there are different die stages like John said or that there are other minor doubled dies for the date. They worded it poorly.

For 1970-S there are a lot of coins that seem to have thicker letters. But some of them are DDO. Short of finding some exact die marker you may wish to look very closely and with different light angles at the lower left corner of the L in LIBERTY and the tops of the W in WE. That's where the doubled dies tend to actually show a bit better. And if you are really looking, a whole pile of the DDO's for that year are just minor bars above or below the 7 of the date or bits above or below the L of LIBERTY. Lots of minor DDO's to be found on that year so with a roll of good coins the odds are actually pretty good that something in there will be a DDO.
