Hello all,

Just wanted to report that one of our members may have been hacked or our email system has been hacked.

I received a email from: Coin Community Forum by NumisRob (Luill Cole <lj.cole@hotmail.co.uk>)

It asked you to download the message, and then sign in to another MSN forum. I would just delete the message as it may be a virus.

Just thought I should share.

That is not my e-mail address and never has been. My name is not Luill Cole and my own e-mail is behaving quite normally. The e-mail certainly did not come from me.

I got the email too.
It did not have any content except for a link, which is no no.

At least SPAM and at worst virus/spyware. Do not click the link because just by doing that you can have something downloaded to your computer. If you clicked, then a good virus/spyware program to run is Malwarebutes. It's free (paid version available) and can be downloaded at below link.

Whoevers email got hacked had emails FROM Numisrob in their inbox. The hackers forward emails already there because the odds are better the recipient will feel it's familiar and trust it.

Doesn't have to be hacked - there is a lot of simple spoofing of the from name. The Internet email protocol dates from a kindler, gentler time and just accepts whatever you give it with no validation.

You're right. spoofing is easy, but bet the house, these are from someone's hacked account.
