Hey, I don't know much about coins but I've found that some people have been paying for their food, at work, with florins. I have two, which my boss let me keep. I looked them up on the internet and this one seems to be of a higher value. Does anyone what it might price for?

Welcome to the CCF ...... To post photos or scans, first you need to save your scans/photos to a web hosting service. There are heaps of them around, some are paid ones and some are free. Photo Bucket is a reliable free one. One you have done that, click on the 4th icon from the right of this post...then post/paste the address of your scan between the two "img" you will now see on your posting screen...viola, you will then display whatever photos etc you wish to show

So I was wondering if anyone could give me a rough possible price? I'm going overseas in about a month and coins have no particular value to me so if it's worthwhile I'll probably sell.

I donot think you will get what would make it worth your while to sell them.....sorry. A good way of checking is to log onto ebay and do a search of previous auctions to see what they have sold for.

Re reading your original post again donda....I take it you are working in a deli/tuckshop of some sort? If it is the case, instead of just looking at florins, keep your eyes peeled out for a year 2000 10cents/dollar MULE. If you are lucky to come across one, they are selling on ebay around the AUD$500 mark. A good one is over the 1K mark. Best of luck...

the florins both being commemorative ones were hoarded in great numbers in uncirculated grade the coins you have being at the lower end of the gradind scale are worth around 3 dollars australian each , if they were perfect they the 1927 would fetch around 200 dollars and the 1951 would be around 100 dollars .The 1927 holds the privelige of being australia first commemerative collecter coin

Oh well. Thanks everyone. By the way, what's a MULE? This 10cents/dollar thing, what does it look like? I'll keep my eyes open.

Straight from the text book...."a MULE is a coin, token or medal whose obverse die is not matched with its official or regular reverse die.." In this case, the obverse (heads side)was strucked with a 10 cents die causing a "double rim" as the 10 cents die is smaller than the normal dollar die... Have a Look Cheers and happy hunting...Lim

Lars...it is good to check all pocket change you come across...never know what you may find. The downside to this is when you receive funny looks at a shopping outlet peering at coins with a loupe ( I have the eyesight that will rival those of Mr Magoo)...LOL

they are hard enough to find in perth which is the mule capitol of australia ,but as lim said it is important to check every single coin you receive in change , because there are many undiscovered mule still out there and your turn to find one may come one day
