I was following an ebay auction for a 1961 50 cent piece Pl 65 with an UHC and graded by ICCS. It was a gorgeous coin and it got me to wondering if there any pre 1967 silver dollars with the same criteria?

Yes there certainly are in both mint state and PL..i have handled 1953, 1956, 1962-1967 in uncircukated ultra heavy cameo..but other than the 1965s and 1963s they are pretty scarce..
Same thing goes with the PL examples in UHC..from my experience looking for them, getting them graded and reading the pop reports..i would say the following
1953 PL dollars in UHC are next to impossible. 1954 PL dollars in UHC are somewhat scarce with a few coming up for sale recently. 1955 PL dollars in UHC are extremely rare..i have only seen record of one. 1956 PL dollars are plentiful in UHC and come with a stunning modern proof appearance..and although the most common of the UHC dollars, they are hard to come across with a full early strike cameo and quality grade..most came from an old hoard and have been absorbed by the market quickly. 1957 dollars in UHC do not exist..i have heard of Hcam examples but never seen one. 1958 dollars in PL UHC are very very rare..i think there are maybe 1-3 graded, I have seen record of a PL66 and own a PL65. 1959 dollars in PL UHC so far don't seem to exist and the clsoest you can get is a nice Hcam although some of these seem to me to be contenders for an UHC grade. 1960 dollars in PL UHC are very rare, I havent seen one available for a couple years and the last one I did see did not appear to be a true UHC. 1961 is a very scarce issue in PL UHC but they are out there and can be pulled from PL sets if you hunt long and hard and have some luck on your side. 1962 in true UHC may not exist but I have seen some very close to UHC. I have one graded as UHC but it is hard to tell through the toning if it truly is one. 1963 is tough but can be found, there should be more out there to be found as it is a coin still overlooked by many as a common issue coin in PL. 1964 is a very hard coin to find in true UHC. I saw a PL66 example a couple years back that was not a real UHC. I have 2 examples that are UHC but I suspect they were struck with SP dies and never cut out of your average 1964 PL set..so goinf by that I would say 1o64 dollar sin true UHC are very rare. 1965 dollars in UHC are very rare in the small beads varieties and in the type 4 variety, while the type 3 examples can be found in UHC and are only scarce..with 15 or so UHC coins graded as of 2015 for this variety while the other 3 types have almost none graded. 1966 can be found in UHC and is probably one of the more common ones but it is still a tougher coin to encounter and there are more to be found in PL sets..this year, like the 1963 sets is overlooked a lot and disregarded as a very common year of PL set which means there is not a lot of interest in pulling out the higher end UHC dollars. 1967 issues of all denominations are very hard in UHC and the same goes for the dollars, it is another instance of the sets being too common to care about for many, but when you start to search you really see how tough they are. I would say the dollars are rare in UHC but can be found.
These population estimates are based off of my experience with ICCS graded coins.
Hope this helps you!

Dollarman: Thank you very much for sharing your experience and knowledge. Have you tried to cross any of your Dollars to PCGS for their Cameo designation ?

@everest no I haven't..PCGS doesn't follow the same cameo standards as ICCS does. PCGS only calls Canadian PL coins CAM or DCAM..that means a PCGS CAM can be a ICCS cameo or heavy cameo and a DCAM (deep cameo) can be anything from a softer heavy cameo to a full ultra heavy cameo..thwy only use 2 designations while we use 3..and the biggest issue there is apparently any Canadian PL in need of a CAM or DCAM designation needs cameo on both sides..that causes a problem with certain issues..a good example being the 1956 dollars in UHC..although I have never tried sending them one, judging by their criteria for CAM and DCAM I wonder how they would grade one seeing as 1956 UHC dollars have a full snow white obverse cameo but a fully mirrored no cameo reverse!
In summary; I love PCGS but in the case of PL cameo coins, they are better off with ICCS certs..

This is one in my collection. It was in an ICCS SP-66 Ultra Heavy Cameo Now - it is in a PCGS PR67 Deep Cameo holder.

The rarer specimen strikes tend to have the stronger cameos...
