Anyone get this coin? This coin seem to be sold out from the RCM. Got sell out alert on Monday. Still available from other dealers.

First coin to be sold out from February releases. Ahead of the Pysanka coin.

Nice looking coin but I passed on it. I'm sure that Steven Bromberg has 200 or so to sell on the Coin Show on TSC in the first week of February.

It's reminiscent of the 2017 Whispering Maple Leaves, which I like better.

I do not see here beauty of the Maple Leaf, which is usually seen on the 1oz coins from the fractional sets.

This design reminds me math, with rotation of the objects. I's not the natural motion , imo.

However, the gold rose 5oz coin - yes, this is attractive and fresh.

Interestingly, it is also out of stock at Canadian Coin & Currency.

The reason for the quick sell out is likely due to the relatively low mintage of 1000 for this coin. The 2017 5 oz Maple Leaf coin was 2000. The 2018 5 oz Maple Leaf was 1500. The 2018 Big Coin series also had mintage of 1500.

I am going to be honest here... I am fed up with plated this, plated that, decals here, paint there. IMHO, it is all lipstick on the pig. Yes there is an initial attraction to the colouration however a simple metal only canvas with the engraver's talent and skill can create an image that these technical processes leave cold.

I am a big fan of larger format coins and some of the best of recent years were the $200 for $200 Face Value set and the 2014 $30 Tim Barnard coin; they used the large form factor to great effect with highly detailed intricate designs that draw you in and give you something new to find with each viewing. If I am going to buy a 5 oz maple leaf, I expect it to be at bullion prices... 'cos that is what Silver Maples cost. I don't buy into the whole bullion/Proof switcheroo.

If you like this kind of product... enjoy it... I for one reminisce for the days where the engraver was king... Not the plating shop. I ordered and am looking forward to seeing the 3 base metal dinosaur quarters... They have promise.
