I was on Great Collections looking at sold prices when I came across this example. https://www.greatcollections.com/Co...CGS-MS-65-RD

They attributed it as FS-901 Wide AM. It's clearly not for those who can tell. Here is a true FS-901.

Do yall see this a lot?

That's what I have never understood why they call it Wide AM. They are all Wide AM's. The FS-901 is the correct attribution. Why the TPG's call it a Wide AM makes no sense to me either.

Note that they are the same grade and attribution, but the one that sold three years ago went for twice as much. Values on all those "901" varieties have fallen hard as people continue to find them and what was rare becomes less so.

the naming makes no sense, and it's incredibly difficult for new collectors to figure out.

This is a pretty common mistake for the TPG to make.

You'd think with millions of dollars at disposal that have the use of Google.

Can someone look in an updated Cherry Pickers Guide to see how it is listed . I haven't bought one in twenty years.

@stoneman it's listed as Wide AM because the WAM is RDV-006 they didn't feel the need to be specififc. NGC Designats it like this on their slabs.

That tag given to 006 is a bit deceptive on a 1988 as the M is centered between the A and E on all 88's. The Close AM which basically caused the nameing of the Wide AM didn't come to us till 1992.
