I have recently been looking at PCGS coin prices for the Lincoln Memorial cents. I am curious as to why the 1979 Philadelphia minted penny in high and Ms state is selling for around $3000?¿¿?

Also on the subject of the 1979 Philadelphia minted penny I was given one in extremely excellent uncirculated condition that is never seen any fingerprints and all of its life as it's still in package.

If needed I am able to post pictures of my coin as well please any information regarding this Penny would be extremely helpful thank you very much

Not sure unless you can provide a link for everyone to check, was it a variety?

Here is an example of a TPG graded MS67 sold recently

The big dogs in the hobby are continuing to push up the prices of the best of the best of coins for each date.

I was reading that there are several billionaire collectors that are competing to repeat the feat of Eliasberg, and they don't settle for less than top of pop coins

Because coins in that state are rare, it's called a "conditional rarity".

There's one (Hansen) going for that actual set as far as I know but there are a number of them that are VERY passionate collectors for what they go after.

The market has been rewarding quality for several years now, there are a lot of collectors out there that want the best and are willing to pay up for it.
