Can anyone tell me if zinc coins can be acetone dipped?

I do not see why it would be a problem. Acetone only removes organic material.

However, zinc seems to be very fragile so I would definitely wait for more opinions.

I've dipped many Lincoln Cent coins in Acetone with no effects of any kind. However, did you mean a pure Zinc coin or the plated ones like Lincoln Cents?

For many years I've used Vaseline petroleum jelly on the older WWI type foreign coins. It does away with the white powder on them and turns them a nice solid gray color. Take a soft cloth to wipe all of it off.

Zinc plated steel cents , copper plated zinc cents or foreign zinc coins ?

Not much cleans zinc coated on steel cents. Solid zinc coins are a different matter.

After the dip ,rinse properly.
to preserve and to protect your coin you can apply some wax.
