I received this 1921 D Morgan and I saw that it had a large number of die cracks on both the reverse and obverse. Can you help me identify the die variety. There are a few similar depending on progression of the cracks on the obverse especially around the date. They really overused the dies. See pics with close ups.

It looks like a VAM-1G to me but I can't the die state. A close up of the second S in STATES would be the reveal.

It looks like the early to mid die state. Cool variety... Here's a close up of my example...

Thanks dave700x for the variety ID, much appreciated. Your coin looks like a later die state than mine but not fully filled in. I can see a series of dents on the obverse near IBU near the spaces between denticles. "Van Allen called the field pushed in." Mine has no scribbling scratches by eagles leg. I've cataloged mine as a MDS example and I'm still on the hunt for the elusive LDS. The scribbling on and around the tail feathers typically wore off early during the die life and I'm guessing is only present on the EDS examples. As far as the dents above IBU, I'm not aware of another die in the series with this feature. Cool stuff... Here's a link to images of an example @SsuperDdave owns. Sure hope he finds his way back to CCF https://www.coincommunity.com/us_do...n_dollar.aspThanks @NDBirdman..

Thanks dave700x for the link to the SsuperDdave coin, and cheers NDBirdman, they do in fact rock. Here is a shot of the indent around the IBU on the obverse, like you said the die would have to be tilted up in that area of the die field between denticles to get that indent in the coin, very neat and in the early die state. Nice to have this compiled here for future searches. Great of you to pass on your knowledge, in true CCF fashion.
