In the A on the reverse is a chunk. Is it a die chip or a Cud ? I don't know the difference.

It's a Die Chip. A Cud is a lot different than a Die Chip. A Cud is a type of Die Break that only involves the rim and some parts of the fields. There's actually a void in the die from the piece breaking off of the die. The reverse should show weakness, since there's no metal to fill that area. http://goccf.com/t/331880
