Based on PCGS photograde examples, this 1878-S appears to me to be a grade MS64; however, it's challenging to get a clear photo.

These pics do not show the coin's true surfaces well enough to grade from.

Thanks for comments.

Why does this Morgan appear to be cleaned?

Any suggestions on how to take better pics of these shinny coins?

Unable to grade from these photos due to the glare from the lighting.

I have a Sony alpha700 DSLR with a 3.5-5.6/18-70 lens. Didn't think to try as I do not have a macro lens.

Give it a try and see what happens. Maybe a member can give you a hint or two.

AU details cleaned. Coin is too shiny everywhere as is clear from the photos, luster is completely gone. Areas around devices were somewhat protected from cleaning/polishing so are duller, a true hallmark of cleaning. Enough material looks to have been removed either from circulation or more likely polishing to knock this down to AU details.
