Jeton-From-Job-Lot---Rome-Under-The-Kings!

One side appears to say "Rome under the Kings"

The other talks about a defeated Asia.

I have no idea what the images depict.

I assume the "A.R." dates correlate to the "anno urbis conditae" calendar, dating from the legendary founding of Rome in 753 BC.

563 AUC corresponds to 191 BC, in which year was the Fourth Battle of Thermopylae where the Romans thrashed the Seleucids, and subsequently began to invade what is now Turkey (which was known to the Romans as "Asia").

584 AUC (I think it says 584?) corresponds to 170 BC, but I can't see any significant event in Roman history in that year. The nearest I could find was King Perseus of Macedonia defeated and captured in 168 BC.

As to the date of issue of the medals, I would assume during the Kingdom or Napoleonic periods in France, mid-1700's to early 1800's.
