2003 State Quarter, Alabame, Planchet Defect?

nick10 Pillar of the Community United States 3207 Posts	Posted 02/22/2019 7:11 pm I've not seen another coin quite like this. I'm thinking either planchet defect or struck through a string. It's difficult to tell from the photos but the letter R of Liberty, though rough in texture, is raised above the surface in the defect area. George's neck, however, is not.
