I've not seen another coin quite like this. I'm thinking either planchet defect or struck through a string. It's difficult to tell from the photos but the letter R of Liberty, though rough in texture, is raised above the surface in the defect area. George's neck, however, is not.

Might have been Struck Through some type of object during the strike.

It's puzzling that upon the strike, the metal filled the R but not George's neck.

It's extremely hard to tell if it's a strike through a string or if a scratch raised metal up on the outside of the indentation. This one is a tough call.
