Quote: The end date isn't precisely known yet. Currently they have planned to go up to Ford, but I read somewhere that they will only mint coins with presidents that have been dead for 4 years (I think). So that would mean Regan would be the last in 2016, unless George H.W. Bush kicks the bucket before 2012. I know it is very easy to do, but do not forget about President Carter! There is some ambiguity in the legislation that leaves things open to interpretation. One way can be interpreted to say that they will have to stop if Carter is still alive (or not been dead for two years); they would not be able to mint a Reagan coin. The wording in question is "issued in order". Quote: (2)(E) Limitation in series to deceased presidents.- No coin issued under this subsection may bear the image of a living former or current President, or of any deceased former President during the 2-year period following the date of the death of that President." Quote: (3)(A) Order of issuance.- The coins issued under this subsection commemorating Presidents of the United States shall be issued in the order of the period of service of each President, beginning with President George Washington. Once they skip a living president and issue the next eligible president, the order has been violated. If they issue a Regan coin one year, what becomes of Carter when he becomes eligible? It is not quite clear and it just might have to be interpreted if Carter were to live long enough. Here is the termination clause: Quote: (8) Termination of program.- The issuance of coins under this subsection shall terminate when each President has been so honored, subject to paragraph (2)(E), and may not be resumed except by an Act of Congress."

Carter and Bush(41) were both born in 1924 so they would have to live past 90 to not get a coin. Odds are that Clinton and Bush(43) will still be alive for a number of years after that so they will more than likely never have coins with their likeness.

When I first heard about them I was excited because I was hoping to use them more as a learning tool for my kids, but that soon faded. It is nearly impossible to find them where I live because not many are ordered and those that are get bought in a few minutes. Our local coin shop has not even been able to get their hands on rolls like they use to and seem to find this coin a complete waste of time depending on the day. If they were easier to get and I did not have to pay 2-3x face value it would be one thing but the main thing is that I got bored with them really fast and actually plan on putting my set up for sale or trade in the next little while.

Quote: Odds are that Clinton and Bush(43) will still be alive for a number of years Jbuck....Keep in mind that Bill Clinton had 97% blockage in one valve and was hospitalized.....he is seeking continual treatment of course, but he could have EASILY dropped dead at any moment before this was discovered.......and he still might. Look at Tim Russert. His condition was undected.....not the heart and blood pressure and weight issues, but specifiacally the thing that "popped" and killed him almost instantly. Avid biker or not......George Jr. could even drop dead before his Dad, Jimmy Carter, or Clinton.......wouldn't that be a stunner....yeah...probably not likely. But yeah.....Bill was very very close to "dropping dead" already.....if we're doing "forecasts" of who might and might not be on a coin.

Well, it was a bit poorly worded- I didn't mean that Clinton would live to 100(he could but most likely not) but his odds of making it to 2014 are pretty good considering he has access to the best Cardiologists in the world and since he is being actively treated, the odds of something happening undetected are relatively small. One difference to note is that I doubt Bill is currently working 80 hours a week like Russert did- that level of stress can really tax a body. The Presidency of the United States IMO is the most stressful job in the world and it will significantly age anyone holding the office. I am sure the Presidency was a contributing factor in Bill's heart attack(along with Big Macs, cigars..oh wait I shouldn't go there ) but once you are done, being an Ex-Prez is one of the best gigs you can have

Its all a Liberal conspiracy to keep Regan off of a coin! Quote: It is nearly impossible to find them where I live because not many are ordered and those that are get bought in a few minutes. You can get them directly from the mint for face value (+shipping). You have to get them by the box (10 rolls), but if there is as much demand for them as you say, it would be pretty easy to unload 8 or 9 rolls that you don't want... http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...ory_rn=27238The thing I don't like about them is that the mintmark is almost gone after five minutes of circulation...

Voted series to continue as is no changes. However, I hope "The dollar bill will be eliminated to encourage their circulation." will come to be. Honestly I don't mind the coins at all!

What would be worse or as worse would be the spouse Medal! We don't need (I don't want) drama in government we need honest leader ship with integrity. Leaders who work for the people not politicians who work to better themselves and or friends and families. Here in good ole Michigan we have enough drama with our Great Mayor of Detroit. Action not drama! Sorry I digress... coins are the topic here!
