The "one more roll before bed" rule hit again tonight. Found a very good doubled die in a B/U roll, although it's a late die stage (Wexler stage B with the new reverse, CONECA stage C). Not the greatest pics of the doubling but it's late and did 'em up quick. 1955 Lincoln Wheat cent doubled die DDO-002, FS-102 LDS

Very nice Tropicalbats! one more for the road The full obverse captured "Liberty" nicely. One can zoom in to see how the doubling really looks even though the doubling can be seen without the zooming. I should have listen to moms talking about eating veggies; my vision isn't the greatest.

Well I try to mostly only post the better stuff, so it might seem like that's all I find. Things I found last night and didn't post were MS-grade 1944 DDO-001, 1944 DDO-010 and 1954-D RPM-005. As for how many coins? Probably 300-500 a day either rolls or bags of wheats or proofs or whatever I've come across and needs looked at. Sometimes I'll have some extra time and just run through a 1000 wheats to get them done as there are always at least 10K of them sitting around needing looked at. Money in is money out. I pretty much buy material and sell it off after taking a look at it. I lose a little in the process so sell off doubles and other coins that I don't collect to make up the difference. When I get a big score like the 1955 DDO-002 which I already have slabbed at MS-63 I sell it off and make enough to fund some cherrypicking of nicer coins like the 1910 S/S RPM-003 that I just bought. Every year I do it all so that what I buy equals what I sell and those which went into my collection are essentially free coins. It's a lot of work, but it takes no family money and over time I have created a very strong varieties collection with a smattering of top errors. I find resource material all over the place. I pay fair prices for things and work with dealers, ebay sellers, coin clubs, and others to get unsearched material. The current set of coins I am posting I am finding in a group of 58 rolls of uncirculated cents that I paid $580 for. Once I get through them I will sell them off and hope to get pretty much that much back. Might sound like a lot of money, but it is just how I said, money in is money out and I will be out of pocket almost nothing and have all those varieties either in my collection or up for sale so I can buy more coins. Anyway, there it is laid out as a model anyone can use and do the same thing. The skill is in knowing which lots of coins to buy, and knowing how to find even the hard to see stuff on the coins themselves. A fair number of folks could be looking for a doubled die on that 1955 and not see it, and let a $150 coin slip away. And what isn't in the original post is that there were four of them in that roll, so I did pretty well last night.

HEY! I think it is a great model. My goal is to stack silver. I stopped stacking silver from boxes of halves only because they were few and far between. My model was to search cents and trade them for silver bullion. I have yet to make one trade on that model but hopefully will in the future. In the mean time I get to enjoy my hobby on the cheap. And it is about money in and money out... for me I buy $25 boxes and return material back to my bank that has a coin machine.

$10 a roll for uncirculated cent rolls is a good price and as you mentioned you got a good return just on the '55's.

I've seen people advertise "unsearched rolls" but I never believed them. Perhaps I'll take another look. Thanks: Lou

I would not, in general, believe anyone who feels the need to put "unsearched" in the title.
