Can some clear this up as I kind of see the third face as a bull but can't find anyone referencing that. Am I wrong? The references do say "looking in three directions, so I gather Janus had a third face?

Well it does look like a Bulls head, but I think it's just how the two heads of Janus are joined. RIC lists Janus standing holding a spear but not Janus and Bulls head.

I am thinking that it may not be a head of Janus.
Perhaps this coin is a Roman colonial coin with Latin legends, and with a local god depicted on the reverse.

(Just attempting to consider a second line of investigation)

Echizento:

If it is just the way the two heads of Janus are joined, why do the following write, "Janus standing facing, looking in three directions", or some form of "three directions"? Thus how can two heads look in three directions?

Or is perhaps the references just wrong about "three directions" and what looks like a bull is just, as Echizento says" just the two janiform heads joined? Below is a link to a 2nd century Janus head with rams horns. If you give Janus pointed horns like a Satyr, the Janus horns might be looking like a bull facing and not intended at all. Love to see an extra fine of this coin series, what the artist intended.

Now a bit more convinced that it may indeed be Janus.

Considering the tiny space that the die cutter had to work in,
it would have been a big ask to get it looking obviously right.

OK, looking at the gold Hadrian has of Janus, there are only two heads and Janus is not at all looking in "three directions". Should of thought of looking at the gold sooner.
