I was wondering if anyone lives around NJ and goes metal detecting in historic parks and ghost towns and stuff.

I have no experience with metal detecting, and would like to tag along on an 'expedition' prior to buying one for myself. Has anyone else done this before?

Rest in Peace

Read up on the laws pertaining to any area you search.

I believe it is a crime to remove anything of historical value from Federal lands.

Probably not, but someone owns it, and ALWAYS get permission before entering private property!
