It will be a good way to avoid shipping and also see before you buy. Hoping for a good selection of higher grade moderns and quality classic types. Previous coin shows, I was putting together date and mint sets and the candidates to complete the sets were few and far between. Hoping type coin hunting will be a bit easier especially for moderns.

Hopefully you'll have better luck but nice moderns are usually lacking at a lot of coin shows.

This one has up to 70 tables and a decent variety of coins offered between slabbed, raw, US and world. Lots of morgans, as expected.

Moderns are plentiful at the coin show I attend, but you have to ask. Most of it seems to be stored below the tables. The stuff up top is typically the less common upper end eye candy. Good luck!

Quote: How are you finding out about local shows near you? Not really an easy question. For example when I look up coin shows in my state per google, I get a list of many coin shows. However, man are not listed for some reason. Never could figure that out. One thing I do is at any coin show, I ask dealers where I can find a list of coin shows. Eventually I gets several different sites with different listings. I then put together my own list. Good luck finding the ones by you. Remember, at most coin shows some dealers want to save money on table rentals. So they have many addition coins behind them or under the table. You have to ask.

Carl, that is exactly correct on table space. I asked a few dealers if they had Mint sets. None were displayed on their table. Sure enough, one guy pulled a box from under the table and viola, he had a few Mint sets. Another guy said come back next month and he'll bring in the ones he has.

I've been going to and enjoying coin shows regularly for a couple years now. I've found that once you go often enough, you kind of get a feel for which dealers offer the kinds of things you are looking for. You can get to know them after a while if they frequently set up at the shows, and sometimes gain a trusted business relationship with them.
I have a couple dealers I like to frequent for different things at my shows. I have a junk silver guy, a bullion guy, a husband wife/duo that has good prices on raw classics, a couple dealers with bargain bins that sometimes have hidden gems in there. If I had the money for it, I'm sure there is a slabbed high end dealer there I would frequent.
