A new addition to my collection - an 1809 Classic Head, variety S-280.
This is the only die variety for this first year of the classic head production.

This particular example displays an assortment of minor nicks and scratches, but still within what can be expected for the grade, in my opinion. Fortunately and most importantly, it shows no corrosion or verdigris and a nice, even colour.

1809s very often show a weaker obverse than reverse, in many instances a difference of one full grade. This example is no different. It was struck in a late state of the dies, either state VI or VII.

I would greatly appreciate your opinions on condition and grade.

Thanks for your opinions!

VF Details (ED). Net F12

Germanicvs, I recently posted an 1855 LC. I would really appreciate your assessment and possible grade as I have not been able to get an accurate one for years on this piece.

F-12 with very nice surfaces. I think it may get a pass for the edge bump.
