The coin represents a modern day Aussie icon. There is only 1 other Aussie coin that depicts the Opera House (from memory) which is a shame. Given the theme will should be a popular one I think it is not a bad coin. The mintage is a bit high but a lot are going to the overseas market. The big selling point to me is it is gold and it is an Australian coin....not a Cook Island issue!!!!

There are three other coins with the Sydney Opera House depicted on the reverse.
1.The 1997 $10 proof from the Landmark series. 2.The 2000 $5 proof "Harbour of life (land)" from the Sydney Olympics. 3.The 2000 10 oz Paralympic Victory coin.

It's saying something when this new release coin topic gets posted here BEFORE the Australian forum.
The coins image looks great. But what size is a 1/25th of an ounce coin? Is it as big as an Australian 5c piece?

Hi toast...it is questions about size I can not answer as yet as no specs are forthcomming. When the coin arrives I can tell. As far as info appearing here before the Aussie forum, I choose not to act as a dealer there for a number of reasons, the main one being the politics of the place. Just about every seller that "advertises" there has been in some sort of "war" with another seller and I choose not to participate in that. I am primarily a collector and to offer assistance there (and here for that matter) is foremost. Everything else I do not want to or have to deal with as I see it as counter productive. Many members here have asked me to "advertise" as they want an outlet to buy Aussie coins. As long people want me to do what I am doing I am happy to do it.

This post may get transfered to general discussion but I felt it was necessary to respond to the comment.
Toast Blame me
I invited Bigfella over here a long time ago It was an uphill battle but we now have many people on this forum interested in Aussie coins. Susan and Bobby saw the light just after the forum was started.
I am still active on the other one as well, but I find that here we are getting a good cross section of discussion of our coins with out all the politics we get involved in on the other one.
We are pleased to have anyone here who makes a contribution, is willing to help, without making members feel dumb, stupid, etc.
We are grateful to Shane for what he has done for us and to many other members of the Aussie forum that are now also here as well.
Not many forums based outside of Oz have a special section for Australian Coins, Token and Banknotes as well as general discussion.
Thanks again to Susan and Bobby.

all the other Aussies that are helping make this successful and to the Knights for supporting Oz
Any other Aussie dealers that would like to work with us, the rules are fairly simple.
After you have 50 posts on this forum you may buy, sell, and trade and even list your shop and if you want to support the forum in a larger way, I believe Susan and Bobby would even sell you some advertising.

14.1mm Thanks. That is smaller than a Australian 1c piece or a USA Dime. But it is bigger than the "Liberty Head type 1849-1854" Gold Dollar which was only 13mm
